Apollo Hotel Amsterdam to join the tribute portfolio
Posted on 03/11/2016
Amsterdam, 19 October 2016 – in 2017, Apollo Hotel Amsterdam, which is part of the Dutch hotel chain Apollo Hotels & Resorts, will join the franchise network of Starwood Hotels and Resorts, thereby becoming part of the Tribute Portfolio. The decision goes hand in hand with a substantial upgrade and radical renovation of the hotel.
During its almost 90-year history, the famous metropolitan hotel has seen many milestones. Back in 1928, the Apollo Hotel provided the backdrop for the Olympic Games, as a location where the tennis tournaments were held. Many modifications and expansions followed and the very latest development is also ambitious.
Francesco Monaco, board member of the chain and responsible for the commercial strategy: “The Apollo Hotel is an icon in the Amsterdam hotel sector. During the approaching winter, the rooms, suites, reception, lobby and the restaurant will undergo a complete metamorphosis. We plan to enhance the exclusive nature of our hotel, but in particular we wish to emphasise its individuality. An essential aspect of this is to ensure we serve the right target group. By joining the luxurious Tribute Portfolio, we can offer our guests the best of both worlds: a unique hotel with its own identity, with access to the rewards of Starwood and Starwood Preferred Guest®”.
Lori Esposito, Director of Global Brand Management, Tribute Portfolio: “The growing popularity of distinctive and independent hotels has inspired Starwood Hotels & Resorts to develop the Tribute Portfolio. Unique companies with outstanding service at unusual locations. We are proud to welcome Apollo Hotel Amsterdam and we are convinced that discerning travellers will have a remarkable experience here”.
The Apollo Hotel Amsterdam is a waterfront hotel in the Oud-Zuid district and has 223 rooms and suites, 5 multifunctional rooms, a business centre, a lobby bar, the Chill Out Spa and The Harbour Club Kitchen. The hotel is currently still a franchisee of Wyndham Hotels, but as from January 2017, will become part of the Starwood and SPG network. Once the renovation has been completed, it will be added to the Tribute Portfolio on the 1st of April. The reputed Belgian designer Will Erens is responsible for the design of the renovated Apollo Hotel Amsterdam.
